Artist's Comments

Again with the posting of the Pimpette artwork, which I said I wouldn't do.
Still, I was so proud of how this one came out.

I actually drew this last semester (around october or november 2004, to be precise), sitting in school and avoiding work. I ignored most of what I think may have been an important lecture to finish the scales on Parakas. The drawing was done on a regular sheet of printer paper (8.5x11"), but I scanned it in and resampled it to 300dpi, planning to make a print of it.
I finally finished it the other day (after many many photoshop crashes), and made a web-sized version to display here.
I'm going to try printing out a few test versions before I decide if this is going to be something I'll print off and bring to the convention in August.

::EDIT::
Apparently I uploaded the original scan of this image in my scraps gallery, here . Well, this is the finished version. So there.

Comments/critiques are welcome; anything to help me out with fire and/or lava especially, since I'm still not satisfied with the lava (that's the reddish-orange stuff beyond the flames). Anyone with suggestions about doing lava is welcome to comment/message me.

I'm not positive about lava... but don't they usually do like... dark floaty bits with cracks? Or is that only in action movies so that people have somewhere to stand?

Overall, it looks pretty hawt. (No pun intended) It even attracted me from the front page as you submitted it. ;) Good job.

And what's with all the carrots? What do they need such good eyesight for anyway? Bunnies, bunnies, it must be bunnies!
:iconglowingmember:
Yeah the dark floaty bits are aboveground where the lava cools.
Should have mentioned that this lava is in Hell and is perpetually hot. :D

And thanks - was stunned to receive a comment so quickly..

excellent lighting, really adds a lot of drama to this. and the fire doesn't look all fake and photoshoppy! lol. i hate when that happens.
nice work! try to exxagerate the lighting on the stalagtites/stalagmites (oh i know that must be spelled wrong), and especially on kria. you could put some scary campfire flashlight lighting on her face. maybe even a radial gradient on the brown (duller parts) of the background with black on the edges would help out too. with lighting this dramatic you want to push it and make the peice really dynamic!!!

but that's just my crazy critique.
:iconglowingmember:
Hmm.. Yes I was thinking Kria looked a little out-of-place amid all the cool fire and lighting and stuff. I'll go back to it tonight and see what I can do. Thanks. :D
